Internet Junkies

I was speaking with a gentleman this evening on the phone and he said that he and his wife were internet junkies. That conversation is what prompted me to write this post. I also had to ask myself if I had become a junkie too.

Are you addicted to the internet? You aren't? Do you find it almost impossible to pull yourself away from your monitor just for a little while? If so, you could be an internet junkie. Do you find yourself skipping a meal because you are so caught up with your networking you just can't pull away. You might just be an internet junkie. Are you joining every business opportunity that comes along and getting nowhere? You might just be an internet junkie.

Is being an internet junkie a bad thing? I don't think so, especially if you are trying to do something constructive that in turns helps others. I can think of hundreds of things I could be doing that would not be productive or good for my brain cells. When I am on the net I am doing a lot of searching and reading. My brain is continually being stimulated with eye movement, hearing and rapid movement with my nimble fingers on the keyboard. I am constantly taking in all kinds of new information that is broadening my horizons, not to mention being introduced to all sorts of individuals all over the world. Could this possibly happen while sitting in front of my television set being a couch potato? Absolutely not!

I think of the internet kind of like golf. You will either love it or hate it. All I know is that I hope and pray that no one pulls the BIG plug that will shut us all down. There might be some that would go slap happy nuts. I might just be one of them!

The internet has become a way of life for both young and old. Old acquaintances have been made new again by being a junkie and discovering sites like FaceBook, MySpace and many other social sites.

If you haven't been introduced to the world-wide web yet, watch out, because you are in for a delightful treat that can become very addictive and add you to the list of internet junkies.

Happy surfing my friends!
